Zikrullah Wall Deco Project~

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem..

As promised, this is the next project which my sister n i made, which i wanted to share with you readers.

but before that, remember about having objectives before doing anyhting? it's a way of purifying our niat (intentions) as well inshaAllah. so for this project, apart from using our time wisely, n bonding with my sis, it was also to decorate the walls of our new home with something not just nice but at the same time capable of reminding people of Allah. besides, i hope it would become a form of 'amal jariah', i think in english, this means a longlasting deed, which will continuously benefit the doer, as long as it is benefited by others... or in one word: charity. as in my previous entry, infak is also a type of amal jariah. this is a really easy way to gain heaps of rewards, by just doing a small deed. ain't that awesome??!

Allah’s Messenger, Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) said;

“When a man dies, all his good deeds come to an end, except three things; the charity of continuous blessings, beneficial knowledge which he leaves behind and a righteous child who prays for him”. (Muslim, Hadith 4005 narrated from Abu Hurayrah)

so this is our Zikrullah Wall Deco:

..done n mounted..

SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahuakbar! =)

how did we make it???

here goes... enjoy!

using old newspaper, we twisted each sheet of paper like above. we used a few sheets.

then, we shaped the twisted newspaper into an Arabic word (a sort of calligraphy i guess). anyway, this reads subhanAllah, which means Glory be to Allah. o yeah, after shaping, we glued (using UHU glue, quite a strong glue) the shaped newspaper onto another flat sheet of newspaper. why? to maintain the shapes we just made so that it would be easier to stick onto the 'background' (you'll get to see this below inshaAllah). =)

.. a close up of the work above.. next we'll paint this..

see? now we've painted it! if you're trying this at home, make sure you get your brush all around the edges!

after the paint dried up, we then gave it a finish with PVA glue, to add a bit of shine to it! it's a really effective, easy n cheap way to make your artwork shine~ ;)

then, we cut around the 'calligraphy'.. it is now ready to be placed 'on board'! hehe..

but where's the board??

here it is! it is the background for our 'calligraphy'. how was it made? easy peasy~
we used a piece of cardboard, and wrapped it with a few sheets of white paper. you can choose any colour you want. or even paint it to produce a cool background~

then, we glued our 'calligraphy' onto the board~ n added some 'shaddow' to it using a black marker pen. (note the shiny surface of the 'calligraphy', brought by the glue effect. ain't tha' beau'iful? =P )

subhanAllah, it's done! =]

n this is Alhamdulillah (All Praise be to Allah)..

n finally, Allahuakbar (Allah is Great!)
alhamdulillah, we finished the project, n now it is mounted side by side on one of the walls of our house.. we do hope, that everytime one passes by, n recites these Zikrullah (remembrance of Allah), not only he/she gets to remember Allah n get rewards inshaAllah, but we would also get rewards inshaAllah.. even if we're dead, may the rewards still flow to us each time it benefits others. inshaAllah, ameen.. =]

to fellow readers, do try this at home! may it benefit you n others as well, inshaAllah.. n it may also test your creativity n patience! all the best! ;)
